BUDAPEST

DOROTTYA BOGNÁR INTERVIEWED BY CRUSH COLLECTION

BUDAPEST
title

WHICH NEIGHBORHOOD ARE YOU LIVING IN RIGHT NOW? AND HOW IS IT LOOKING LIKE?

I live in the XII. district of Budapest, called “Hegyvidék”, which means Highlands. I think it’s one of the most beautiful parts of Budapest, because it’s a green, hilly area of the city.

Buda and Pest were separate towns until the 19th century. The Danube River is between the two areas, and Buda is the calmer, greener part of Budapest. Meanwhile Pest is the part that never sleeps!

WORK AWAY FROM HOME IS THE NEW NORMAL NOW, WHERE SHALL WE SETTLE DOWN WITH OUR SUITCASES?

The Writer’s Villa!

NEED SOME GREENESS FOR OUR LIVING SPACE, WHICH GARDENER SHALL WE STOP BY?

ELTE Füvészkert is the most beautiful botanical garden in Budapest, and there is a gardener named Fitoland next to it.

CAN’T WAKE UP WITHOUT BREAKFAST. WHERE SHOULD WE GO?

Szimply Breakfast & Brunch. The menu is unique and healthy, and you definitely won’t be hungry after.

THE BEST WAY TO BLEND-IN IS TO GO TO THE LOCAL MARKET, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND?

The Great Market Hall is the largest and oldest market in Budapest, it’s a must to see.

WE SHOP EVERYTHING ONLINE THESE DAYS, BUT IF POSSIBLE, WHERE CAN WE GO WINDOW SHOPPING?

Váci Street for the average shopping days and Andrássy Avenue for the luxury boutiques.

PERSONAL FAVORITE GALLERIES AND MUSEUMS?

Hungarian National Gallery, which is located in the gorgeous Buda Castle. Also the Museum of Fine Arts with it’s beautiful exterior.

BOOKSHOP AND VINYL DISC STORE?

Atlantisz Book Island is my favorite choice for unique books. Also you can find several secondhand book carts in the busiest parts of Budapest. I have a lot of books from these carts!

ANTIQUE AND VINTAGE FINDS?

Retrock, Ludovika, Humana.

WHERE TO TAKE THE BEST BATH?

Budapest is nicknamed the City of Baths. I would choose Gellért Bath, Széchenyi Bath and Rudas Bath.

IF WE ARE ALLOWED TO GO OUT FOR DINNER, WHERE SHOULD WE GATHER?

Börze Restaurant has great food! And visit Akademia Italia for the best pizza!

IF EVER, WE CAN GO DANCING, WHERE HAS THE BEST DANCE FLOOR AND MOOD?

A38 is a decommissioned ship on the Danube River. You can always find great parties and concerts there!

My other favorite place is PONTOON. It’s a terrace next to the Danube, but it’s only open from late spring to early autumn.

FAVORITE PARK TO SUNBATHE AND PICNIC?

Római-part (Roman Beach). I love that I can visit this place using public boats. It’s a really chill place, where you can buy some drinks and enjoy the view of the Danube.

DO WE MISS ANYTHING THAT WE ABSOLUTELY SHOULDN’T MISS?

I would like to mention my favorite cafes: Gerlóczy Cafe, Central Cafe and New York Palace Cafe.
